In this thirty-fourth edition, the FIMA – Festival Internacional de Música do Algarve, resumes its mission of promoting access to classical music through a series of 14 concerts guided by the quality and diversity of its repertoires, as well as the excellence of its invited guests. Under the Cultural Program 365 Algarve, these concerts will extend throughout the Algarve region, guaranteeing a true democratization of access to culture that will take place during two months.
The Orquestra Clássica do Sul, the only professional musical group at the south of the Tagus river, will be one of the fundamental structure for the realization of the FIMA events, providing a very high quality basis, which will combine with international renowned artists such as maestro Maxime Tortelier, the violinists Daniel Stabrawa and Christoph Koncz, violist Máté Szücs, cellist Jed Barahal, soprano Dora Rodrigues and also ensembles such as the Grupo Vocal Olisipo and the PLINT - Pablo Lapidusas International Trio.
FIMA will also count on the participation of highly prestigious musicians and guest groups such as Jordi Savall & Hespèrion XXI, percussionist Jean-François Lézé, and the Orquestra do Norte with the cellist Marco Pereira, conducted by Jan Wierzba.
The diversity of the FIMA relies not only on the diversity of its invited artistic formations, but also on the wide range of music styles, epochs and composers embraced, in addition to the inclusion of contemporary productions, through the commissioning of musical pieces which will be performed as world premieres.
FIMA also intends to stimulate the interdisciplinarity between different forms of artistic expression, as well as to perform music events in less conventional auditoriums, with innovative formats.
